3rd Annual Pitch My House Contest Now Open for Submissions

February 10, 2015 – San Francisco, CA – South by Southwest (SXSW) has long been the hub of creativity and innovation. Anne A. Ward, CEO of CircleClick and Austin native, is committed to inspiring that innovative nature by providing people with a place to stay through her 3rd annual contest, Pitch My House, now accepting proposals for 2015 SXSW Interactive.

With SXSW only 5 weeks away, many people are seeking very limited accommodations during the Interactive portion of the festival from March 13-17, 2015. The past two contests have focused on building awareness around and promoting her mobile marketing blog, MobileFOMO, but this year the contest is taking a new direction. Ward and her team are in the beginning phases of building Social Rundown, a customized social media reporting application. Ward explains,

As the owner of an agency and as a developer, I am in a unique position to recognize what current social media reporting tools are missing, how they can be optimized, and also, how to build them. Ultimately this will help not only my own agency, but other agencies who are seeking to provide customized, all-inclusive, affordable reports to their clients.”

Ward is seeking applicants who will be able to help with marketing, engineering, or any other creative way they think will help with this project. Those with the best idea(s) win a free place to stay at Ward’s four bedroom, two bathroom house in Austin for up to 5 days during the 2015 SXSW Interactive Festival. The winner(s) will be announced early March.

2014 winners were Change.orgHelpshift and The Loveumentary and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, otherwise known as McLovin’, and his band The Young Rapscallions. Funny or Die also won for the second consecutive year and published a piece mentioning the MobileFOMO house party with Pitch My House winners and many other notable guests.

The SXSW buzz has been growing in Austin every year, bringing in tens of thousands of people interested in participating or simply experiencing the heartbeat of Austin in March. However, accommodation can be a challenge for many of these folks.

Hotel rooms in Austin during the festival are always in such short supply. Pitchmyhouse.com felt like a return to Austin’s roots. SXSW used to be a meeting of the minds, where ideas would just flow,” explains Ward, a native of Austin. “Now it has become a place to hawk your wares. The festival has lost that sense of community and spark of innovation. I want to mobilize a team of talented people and really have fun with it.”

Outline of the Contest and Rules:

  • The house is located 6.5 miles from the Austin convention center. This means you can travel to SXSW via bike, public transit, or driving. Free parking if you get a rental car.
  • Free wifi
  • Free continental breakfast. To make sure you’re getting your day off to a great start someone will be bringing you delicious breakfast tacos or donuts, perhaps both? Food allergies will be taken into consideration.
  • A spacious place to sleep. There will be a couch, air mattress, futon or cot depending on the number of folks staying at the house. Also towels, soap and a big back yard for when you are not at parties to do your deep thinking or barbecuing in. Limited time offer. Ward reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason. Teams of up to six are allowed to enter. Winners must provide a valid driver’s license, be 21 years of age or older and provide rthree personal references. No big parties, no Austin locals, no additional overnight guests allowed, no renting the space to others and NO PETS! Any damage made to the property will be your responsibility. Put your creativity hats on and good luck!
